leo season 2021 horoscopes

A note on Leo season:

Any time the Sun moves into a new astrological sign, planets Mercury, Mars, and Venus are usually close by. While these planets don’t consistently follow one after the other, they do tend to maintain a loose pack and travel together because they orbit so close to the Sun. That means a lot of energy — both blessings and obstacles — tends to be concentrated in one or two areas of our lives at a time. It’s that “when it rains, it pours” feeling.

For the next few years, whenever the Sun and its neighbors move into a fixed sign (Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, or Scorpio), they will take turns colliding with the slower-moving planets Saturn (in Aquarius until 2023) and Uranus (in Taurus until 2025). These quick but charged interactions brings up the tests and questions that Saturn and Uranus are here to ask us:

  • Are we living in alignment with our deepest desires and values?

  • How are we centering liberation, humanity, and social responsibility in our actions, relationships, and daily life?

  • What traditions are we ready to shed in exchange for more authentic and inclusive means of existing?

  • What resources do we have access to — people, financial, cultural, etc.? Are we sharing them justly? Are we hoarding them for ourselves or are we overgiving?

These transits can be exhilarating, anxiety-inducing, and life-changing all at once. The key is in answering the questions.

As always, no astrological season is all good or bad, but we generally get a break from these more intense periods when the inner planets move into signs that “get along '' with Aquarius and Taurus (air signs and earth signs, respectively). It’s during air and earth sign season that we get the juiciest bits of excitement from Uranus’s travels and the greatest rewards for our commitment to growth that Saturn in Aquarius is demanding. We’re almost there, but Leo season comes first. And it is one of those “testing” times. Last month, Mars and Venus in Leo supercharged the part of our charts where the lion lives, also squaring Uranus and Saturn. This month, the Sun and Mercury will do the same. Leo season is challenging us to move with self-respect without becoming arrogant or domineering, or jumping to conclusions or into commitments that we’ll want to run away from sooner than later.

But here’s the good news: Mars and Venus have officially moved into Virgo. From here, they’re making mostly helpful transits to Uranus and Pluto. While these transits might make us more reserved and particular about certain parts of our lives, they will also help us get to work on things that need repair, thoughtful strategy, and deeper reflection this month. In other words, they can help us clean up the messes that this season will bring.

READING YOUR INDIVIDUAL HOROSCOPE

Horoscopes are general and cover broad astrological trends. Take what resonates for you and leave what does not. If you know your rising sign, start there before moving onto your sun.

If you have any planets in your natal chart within 3-5 degrees of a specific transit, pay attention to it, as it might affect you on a personal level.

If you’d like to know your rising sun, you can calculate your birth chart here. If you want to learn more about your personal natal chart and transits, you can contact me to schedule a personal reading.

Aries + Aries Rising

Shakeups in love, community, and finances abound, Aries. Leo season is bringing ample energy to the part of your chart that holds all the things that make you smile, make you feel loved, and bring out the greatest of your creative potential. These include hobbies, children, pets, romantic partners and passion projects. You can thrive in this atmosphere, but will have to be mindful of the obstacles on the horizon. The Sun and Mercury’s tense relationships to Saturn and Uranus throughout the month will highlight the hard lessons you’re meant to learn about how you show up in community, friendships, and professional networks. Jupiter’s transit has brought some of your dreams and greatest goals to the forefront this year, but achieving these things also comes with a reality check. Do your greatest wishes also make space for you to be appreciated by those around you? Are your hopes aligned with your deepest personal values? Do your current commitments provide you with the stability and security that you need?

You may find yourself on the receiving end of critical eyes and harsh words this month, creating a pressure cooker that forces you to fight for what you want to create within your life. It’s time to eliminate the unnecessary and realize what should be put on hold lest you overwhelm yourself. Mars and Venus in Virgo are helping you bring some discipline to your daily routines and work life. Getting outside and into physical activity will help release some of the difficult energy this month. Pay attention to Venus’s trines to Uranus and Pluto. These transits hold the key to breakthroughs in your career, financial life, and sense of self that could clear the path ahead and make it easier to focus on what is working for you rather than against you. By the end of the month, Venus crosses over your relationship sector, bringing levity to your interpersonal interactions. If your circle gets smaller over the next few years, it will be all the more stronger and aligned with who you are.

Taurus & Taurus Rising

Leo season is intensifying the traction between who you’re becoming and who you’ve been in the past, Taurus. As a fixed sign, you prefer to initiate changes in small, incremental ways that leave you feeling safe and in control — or you’d rather not deal with change at all. It can be downright intimidating to put your foot down and emerge from the safety of familiar territory, regardless of how inhibiting that territory may be. But now is the time to break out. As the Sun and Mercury collide with Saturn and Uranus, you’re being asked (maybe forced) to consider who you are and how your personal identity, value systems, and beliefs align or conflict with the social structures, family systems, and institutions that you deal with on a regular basis. This month could be shaky. You’re being pushed to act in ways that are more authentic to you, and these actions could surprise both you and others. Don’t hold things in or hold yourself back out of fear of rejection. The blowups and frustrations are only worse when we resist inevitable changes. You have what you need, but if others can’t accept your evolution, trust that you can go it alone if you need to, even if temporarily.

This month, the Sun and Mercury are illuminating the importance of the places you’ve called home and the people you look to for mothering, nurturing, and support (regardless of gender). Home may be bustling and full of improvements, to-do’s, and good conversations, as well as the occasional hiccup. This is all happening while your ruling sign, Venus, is moving through the part of your chart that rules romance, play, and lightheartedness. The best advice this season is to be you, literally. Indulging in all the Taurean things like decorating your house, playing host to your good friends, and splurging a little on a night out will work wonders for releasing stress, and expand your perspectives on relationships, friendships, and self-expression. Flex your freedom to shine. You fought hard for it.

Gemini & Gemini Rising

Gemini! The Sun and Mercury are moving into the areas where you naturally thrive this month: communication, learning, hands-on projects, and relationships with neighbors and close friends. As good as you may be at multitasking, you could feel pulled in too many directions at once. This hectic energy makes an abundance of room to jump to conclusions, to cut corners, and to abandon your personal needs for rest and privacy. Be careful of divulging information that isn’t yours to share, or to people who don’t have your best interest in mind. As Jupiter moves back into Aquarius, it’s showing you where you’ve outgrown habits of getting pulled into the drama that comes with giving too much attention to things, people, and problems that don’t have a shelf life. Your strength this month and for the remainder of the year will lie in getting picky about where you put your focus and rising above the habits that hold you back from what you want to get done. Truths can be revealed this month — both to you and by you — that alter the course of your work and relationships. Be open to what you hear and discerning about what you share.

Venus and Mars are bringing blessings to your home life and moments of peace that will balance out the commotion. Venus’s trine to Pluto and Uranus is highlighting the immense transformation that you’ve been undergoing for quite some time (think...over the past ten years). Your beliefs around intimacy (whether physical, energetic, platonic), your ability to give and receive support, and your commitment to standing up for yourself and the things that you believe in have been undergoing massive changes, no matter how subtle they may seem. Let your home be your sanctuary. Whether for rest, reflection, recovery, or emotional release, building a space that is just for you can unlock a wealth of insights about family, maternal relationships, and your personal roots that have been bubbling just under the surface for you. This season is reminding you of the power that you have to heal not just yourself, but your lineage. If you can slow down enough, you’ll be more than ready to take this on.

Cancer & Cancer Rising

Money, possessions, and shared resources are a big theme for you this month, Cancer. Your bank account and your sense of self-worth could be at odds with your desire to enjoy yourself with friends and take advantage of adventures popping up in your immediate community. Be careful of lending yourself out too much and of agreeing to things that look great but don’t have much to offer in the long run. Leo season is looking to shower you with an abundance that you may have felt was lacking for a while, but be careful of being pressured to give away just as much as you bring in. Balance your energy, time, and finances by handling your commitments while giving yourself enough wiggle room to play. You’ve been seeing some unexpected — and probably disruptive — transformations in your circle of friends over the past few years. As you dig your heels deeper into an awareness of what you deserve, this season could see you shedding the layers of more superficial connections.

Venus and Mars in Virgo are supporting you here, loading up your to-do list but also giving you the capacity and mental clarity needed to plan, prioritize, and eliminate the unnecessary. Don’t forget to ask for help. This could be a time when you try to shoulder it all when you don’t need to, and with Pluto and Uranus in a great relationship to Venus and Mars this month, there are people who want to support your work and get to know you better. This is a great month to catch up with old acquaintances and colleagues, have heart to heart conversations with partners and friends, and get out for a quick trip to the next town or just around your neighborhood. Finding budget-friendly ways to have fun and see new places will create win-win situations for your sense of joy and the people you share it with. When Venus moves into Libra by month's end, you’ll have reasons to bring all the fruits of your explorations back home and find some warmth and tranquility in your personal space.

Leo & Leo Rising

It’s your season Leo! More than ever, you want to do your thing and not be bothered this month, but your shine and your presence may create friction at work and within the power structures that you have to answer to. You could see yourself setting boundaries and shutting down those close to you who seem particularly controlling or critical — be they sincere loved ones or the frenemies you’ve been in denial about. Be careful of rebelling against or harshly dominating the people you’re butting heads with. “No” is a complete sentence, and it should be all you need to say, if anything. If it’s you who’s feeling like starting fires with others, take a step back and look at the larger picture. If your words or actions rub others the wrong way, they may not say much but they’ll remember (and so will Saturn). This isn’t a month for “yes” people who won’t tell you the truth about a less-than-tactful slip of the tongue. Seek out the friends and family who hold you accountable, and lovingly hold the parts of you that are still growing.

This is a power month for your career. With Mars and Venus in your sector of income and possessions, you’re driven to build wealth (however you define it) or to simply expand your avenues of income to help pay the bills. With the support of Uranus and Pluto, a windfall, promotion, or new career path could finally open up for you. Not everyone will be happy, but that’s not your business. Move with grace and keep your head up if you feel opposition. This will pay off in the long run and keep you from having to swallow your words. Once Venus moves into Libra by the end of the month, you’ll have more than enough to celebrate with your closest friends, loved ones, and coworkers.

Virgo & Virgo Rising

Please be nice to yourself this month, Virgo. Mars and Venus are in your sign this month, for better and for worse. Virgo’s thoroughness makes you one of the most thoughtful and dedicated friends, co-workers, and lovers of the zodiac. But when turned on its head, perfectionism can yield harsh critique of yourself and others. Don’t let delays, mistakes, or your own need for self-care trick you into thinking you’re not enough. This month is asking you to see yourself as inherently valuable for who you are rather than how you can make everything better for everyone around you. When Venus trines Pluto this month, it gives you a chance to experience deeper levels of letting go, and tapping more authentically into who you are and how you love. How can you relax without worry? What does joy and creation look like, even if the memory or the final product is just for yourself? How are the loves in your life reflecting and supporting your values, your growth, and your ability to take up space?

The fireworks of Leo season are largely impacting your work, health, and daily routines. With all the tough planetary transits happening now, you may learn new — maybe aggravating — information in these areas, or old issues may resurface that you have to take time out to deal with. If people (especially coworkers) are coming to you ready to vent, needing a shoulder, or wanting you to hold secrets, it’s a good time to say no or to set careful boundaries around what you can and will take on for them. You’re likely to have enough of your own to hold right now. There’s a lot of energy concentrated in your center of privacy, secrets, and rest. You’re uncovering a lot of information about the new philosophies, belief systems, and means of learning that you’re meant to explore now, and at times it might feel like these changes are being forced on you. Carve out quiet time to let yourself process any tough thoughts, new ideas, or upheavals. Shifting perspectives in this way can be difficult, but be patient with yourself and lead with curiosity and care.

Libra & Libra Rising

Uranus has been revolutionizing the part of your life that rules deep healing, shared power and intimacy, and debt, Libra. It might feel like you’re not ready, but Uranus is really here to shake up the things that are well overdue for a shift. Leo Season is shining a light on your friendships, hopes, wishes, and the networks that you take part in, but is also bringing up battles with Uranus. What parts of you are ready to transform so that you can stand in your power and truly be heard by your community? In what ways are your people helping you to see yourself clearly? What sacrifices and commitments are you willing to make in order to make your dreams come true? The opinions and expectations of your friends could conflict with your desire to express yourself, to find your deepest joy, and to experience romance and love on your own terms. There may be a boundary you need to set between your social circles and your romantic partner(s) or creative ventures to ensure that you receive what is yours and have the freedom to move forward.

Your ruling sign, Venus, is resting in the part of your chart that rules your inner life. There is a strong part of you that is craving some peace and quiet, but Mars is also here and could kick up old fears or feelings of sadness and isolation. It’s okay, you can use both of these energies to your advantage. This month is unfolding in a way that is encouraging you to create your own definition of peace, and to figure out how you, your daily life, and your habits are in or out of alignment with that definition. Figuring this out can mean opting out of the group for a bit to re-evaluate what comes up. The wonderful thing about this transit is its connection to the planet Pluto. During this season, your willingness to accept and make friends with solitude has the power to transform your relationship to your home, to heal your understanding of family and belonging, and to help you start on a new path.

Scorpio & Scorpio Rising

Your career is buzzing this month, Scorpio, whether you’re wanting the spotlight or not. With the Sun and Mercury in this area of your chart, you could be surrounded by new ways of expanding your work and establishing yourself as a leader in what you do. It’s a great time to deepen your skills, to seek mentorship, and to be a guide to others who look up to you. With Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter in tense relationships to all of this potential, truths could be revealed about the long-term effects that your interpersonal dynamics have on the work you are here to do in this world. As much as your home life could be demanding your attention — things might need repairs, or you just might want to spend more time in bed — you’re likely to be pulled into handling chaos at work or battling it out with authority figures who poke holes in your peace. This is the season to get things in writing, to delegate where you can, and to keep it cool without sacrificing your dignity.

There’s beautiful and abundant activity taking place in your friendships this month. You’re very particular about who makes it into your inner circle, who is allowed to stay, and just how close those within it can get to you. Mars and Venus in this area are encouraging you to get out and explore with the people in your orbit, and to expand that orbit just a bit. Doing so could generate surprising opportunities to meet others who really get the frequency you’re on. With Pluto in a positive relationship to all of this, you could come to a resolution about upsets of the past through forgiveness and more reflective communication between you and others. You could see breakthroughs in interactions that were once difficult or the final completion of tough conversations that have needed to happen for some time. Be honest and open about how your thoughts, needs, and desires for your friendships and social networks may have shifted. There are likely some very receptive ears around you.

Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising

The Sun is shining on your sector of perspectives and spirituality, higher learning, and long-distance travel, Sag. Your sign is traditionally associated with all of these elements, so you may feel right at home as Leo season sends a range of new ideas and avenues for growth your way. Much like we saw last month, this energy is at odds with your daily responsibilities and means of communicating with others. it could be hard for you to distill your grand ideas into words that are easy for others to understand. You could find yourself more drawn to daydreaming and brainstorming than tackling the hands-on, immediate tasks that you’ll have to complete to achieve what you’ve come up with. It’s okay. Spend this time digging into what comes up for you and telling others where you’re at in your thought process. Managing expectations is key, and once Mercury moves into Virgo next month, you’ll be more prepared to put things into action. The opposition between the Sun, Saturn, and Jupiter can also signal that you’ve grown out of a group or close friend circle that you once held dear. If you need to spread your wings, you can do so now gracefully.

With Mars and Venus in Virgo, you’re driven to make moves in your career and get more solid about where you’re going. You’re likely attracting some new connections and a greater sense of fulfillment through what you do this month. Pluto is supporting this transit, giving you a window of opportunity to make moves that bring you financial stability and a boost of confidence. The only thing to be careful of here is that stepping into this transformative territory may require you to switch up a familiar but stagnating situation in your work, health, and daily routine. You’re supported in making it happen if you can go with the flow of the current. Once Venus moves into Libra, your more career-focused demeanor will ease up and you can celebrate the new life you’re creating.

Capricorn & Capricorn Rising

Your understanding of the world is transforming and so is the way that you show up, Cap. Leo season is broadening your perspectives and your potential for leadership. What information are you looking to share with those around you? What ideas are you ready to put out into the world? If you’re outgrowing your surroundings, how can you lift the barriers on what you’re doing to move beyond your current situation? This month is giving you a nudge to get out there and make things happen, while allowing yourself to step further into your personal power. The key is to honor your own beliefs while not forcing them on others. You’ll attract the support that you’re wanting by standing by your convictions and letting others be. You may be gaining a new understanding about issues that bothered or confused you in the past. Be open to new information and insights you receive about yourself and others. They may be just what you need.

The only pitfalls of this month can come from issues of equity or emotional upsets in your creative and romantic partnerships. Someone may want credit for your work, or you may not be giving credit where it’s due. Honor the contributions of all those who have poured into you and who have helped you to get where you are now. The theme of healing, sharing power, and balancing what you give and what you take continues from last month. The Sun is shining brightly on all the things that you’re meant to release this month when it comes to expectations of love, anything that holds you back from expressing yourself to the fullest, and acknowledging yourself as a creative being. While new shiny things or people may come up and want you to throw attention, resources, and time at them, pull back and assess where you are and what you can do. Saturn will be in your house of income and self-worth for the next two years, and the real price of the choices you make now will reveal themselves once Jupiter moves out of this area at the end of 2021. Do you, but take your time when choosing how to move forward.

Aquarius & Aquarius Rising

There’s a lot happening between you and your closest people this month, Aqua. Leo season is crowding around your sector of one-on-one relationships. These could be in business, love, or even adversaries. People could be reaching out, wanting to spend time, or needing more of your support this month, especially if you live with them. Hard lessons could come from partners revealing their needs and communicating harsh truths. Don’t shoulder burdens that aren’t yours, but be open to what’s being said. Any upheavals now could trigger your own fears of isolation or old wounds rooted in family dynamics. Remember that you are loved and that you have a place, but there is always room for growth and outgrowing. If this season demands a change of course, take a step back and see how you can take control of your part in the situation. Where have you invested too much time or emotion, or not enough? What parts of yourself need to be reclaimed in order for you to heal? In what ways can you honor your need for freedom and independence, and balance that with your and others’ need for closeness and security? Jupiter is still in your sector of self, personality, and identity, supporting your ability to break out of any boxes. Time is on your side, and the commitments to growth that you make now can set you up for meaningful long-term changes.

The highlight of this month comes from Mars and Venus’s transit into Virgo. While Mars in this area of your chart can speak of tensions and conflicts over shared finances and intimate connections, Venus here can remind us of how much love and support we really have around us and how much strength we have within. You can use this time to confront your fears about the changes this season is bringing, and to uncover new ways around any unconscious habits or self-doubts that prevent you from taking command of your life, being decisive about what’s right for you, and practicing the patience and focus that help you stay grounded.

Pisces & Pisces Rising

Saturn and Jupiter have been bringing you through some slow — and possibly challenging — endings and realizations over the past year, Pisces. This transit is revealing the limits of your physical abilities and capacity, and encouraging you to dive into the development and behind-the-scenes work that you’re meant to do right now. The tough part about this time is that it can reveal the ways you undermine yourself and your progress. This can look like talking yourself out of taking chances, doubting your abilities, or entertaining connections that subtly detract from your elevation. Leo season is operating in opposition to all of this energy, and is encouraging you to find balance. Things at work and within your immediate community could be taking center stage this month. But you need time for yourself. You may not care to share everything that you’re planning or going through right now, which might confuse those around you. If people are asking for explanations or are tugging at your energy, pull back and let them know the time and space that you need. Uranus is still making a beautiful mess in the part of your chart that rules your siblings and closest friends, neighbors, and the people you interact with on a regular. There is potential for communication breakthroughs and breakdowns if people are short on patience or have been operating in less than honorable ways. Go with the flow and feel free to step away until you’re ready to address it.

Mars and Venus are in your house of marriage, partners, and other one-on-one relationships this month. With both the planet of love (Venus) and the planet of war (Mars) here, you could go through some ups and downs with the ones you are closest to. If you’re on the receiving end of undeserved scrutiny, say so. If you’re receiving some well overdue praise and softness from your loves, embrace it. Pluto is supporting these transits, strengthening your ride-or-die bonds and deepening the connections you have with friends who keep you going. Once Venus moves into Libra in mid-August, you might be surprised with sweetness, attention, and even gifts from those who want to see you succeed.
